Opening Remarks from the Bridging the Gap conference
Dr. Andrew Callen opened our inaugural Bridging the Gap conference with a welcome that was also a stirring call to action. With an emphasis on fostering an environment where every voice is heard and every story is honored, Dr. Callen shared our hope that a conference like this, with the respect for and inclusion of patients’ experiences, will enrich clinical acumen and promote a deeper, more empathetic comprehension of the condition. And he reminded all care providers of the words of Sir William Osler: “Listen to the patient. They are telling you the diagnosis.”
