The Spinal CSF Leak Foundation is thrilled to announce that Dr. Emma Sechrist is the recipient of our Fellow Education Funding Award. This award enables a physician in training to attend this year’s Cedars-Sinai Intracranial Hypotension Conference, coming up July 8-9, 2023.

Dr. Sechrist did her radiology residency at Loyola University Medical Center and will be starting her neuroradiology fellowship at University of Colorado this July.

As a neuroradiology fellow at the University of Colorado, Dr. Sechrist will be working closely with Dr. Andrew Callen, Director of the University of Colorado CSF Leak Program.

Dr. Callen says of this new program, “We provide comprehensive care for patients with suspected and known CSF leaks, including clinic visits, advanced image guided diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, surgical treatment when necessary, and comprehensive follow-up care. We also work hard to make contributions to the CSF leak literature with several past publications as well as ongoing projects. This clinic is the first of its kind in the United States within a radiology department, and it is my ultimate goal to continue to grow the program and act as a care model for other sites.”

As for attending the 2023 Intracranial Hypotension Conference, Dr. Sechrist says, “I am very excited about this opportunity! There is so much unknown about intracranial hypotension. I believe [attending the conference] will definitively enhance my educational experience, and more importantly, make me a better physician for my patients.”

Congratulations, Dr. Sechrist! We look forward to hearing about what you learn at the conference!
