Becky Bosch shared her thoughts with us about how she plans to participate in this year’s #duradash. Visit her page to see updates on her progress and give your support!
Becky, 33, was diagnosed with a spontaneous spinal CSF leak that was caused by a bone spur. She had two epidural blood patches before having surgery to repair her dura mater and shave down the bone spur. She is happy to be almost three months post-operative and back at work, headache-free.
What are you doing for #duradash?
I will be walking and doing my physical therapy exercises.
What to you want people to know about spinal CSF leak?
I want people to know that invisible illnesses are still illnesses. Our pain is real even if we can’t see the cause. It is okay to acknowledge when we aren’t okay.
What research on spinal CSF leak do you hope to see in future?
I hope to see spinal CSF leak researched more so that it is part of a differential diagnosis. With more research on spinal CSF leak and SIH, hopefully we will see less misdiagnosis, and patients will able to receive treatment faster.
